WHAT'S NEW

If you're looking to find out what's new with Mystery Writer BJ Bourg, you've come to the right place.

MONDAY, JUNE 26, 2006

Hello everyone. I've been busy writing and have neglected to update this area. Sorry to anyone who came here expecting something new and didn't get it. I have a lot of catching up to do, so I'll just start with the very latest news. I'm doing back flips at the moment because I just finished the rewrite of my novel. I have to thank Fleur Bradley for her inspiration. It would not have happened this soon without her. I also have to thank Lucille Perkins Robinson, who has so graciously agreed to read it and offer her comments.

Okay, as for short story acceptances, I've had a few since I last updated. Again, working my way backward, I've had two stories accepted for the upcoming anthology "The EX Factor" by Koboca Publishing. The two stories are entitled CAMP KELLER and DEATH NOTICE. Working with Katt Dunsmore, who is also one of the contributing authors, and Bo Savino on this project has been an immense pleasure. The book is due out in October of 2006 and will feature writing from Jill Maser, Earl Staggs, Frank Zafiro, and more. For more information, visit Koboca Publishing.

My short story THE DETECTIVE'S WIFE was accepted by Chippewa Publishing for inclusion in their short story program. The people at Chippewa are good folks and I'm looking forward to working with editor Rebecca Pack. I'm also really pumped because I get to have yet another of my stories illustrated by the great and talented Gin Elf. It's always a pleasure to have her artwork attached to my writing.

I had another story accepted by Tribe over at Flashing in the Gutters. It's entitled BABY GIRL and it appeared on Mother's Day. To read the story, click here.

I've had yet another story accepted by Writer's Post Journal. The story is entitled DEAD OF THE DAY and it was inspired by an image of a camping area I visited last year in the Great Smoky Mountains. I'll be sure to revisit that area when I return to the Smoky Mountains in July, which, incidentally, is when this scary tale is due out in the Writer's Post Journal. To order your copy today, click here.

I'm also very thrilled that my story WET BLADE made it in the Editor's Choice, 2nd Quarterly Review Issue of Bewildering Stories. I may have said it before, but it deserves repeating, the folks at Bewildering Stories truly know how to make a writer feel at home. They have a "Biographies and Bibliographies" page where writers can advertise their other works, website, etc. If you're a writer and you're looking for a quality place to submit your stories, here's a link to their guidelines.

For anyone wishing to order a copy of SEVEN BY SEVEN, mail check or money order for $13.95 (includes s&h) to BJ Bourg at P.O. Box 138, Mathews, LA  70375. For more information, contact me at bjbourg@bjbourg.com.

Well, that's all folks. Thanks for reading and see y'all next week.
